Welcome to the home of chilli seeds in Australia
When people think of growing chillies or chilli peppers it’s with good reason that they think of a climate that is balmy and tropical. This is where chilli seeds grow best!
Chilli Seedz is situated in Townsville, right in the middle of Tropical North Queensland. We believe it’s the perfect position for producing the healthiest and most productive chilli pepper plants on the planet!
Unlike most other Chilli growers who can only start their growing season in hot houses with artificial lighting, we can and do plant our chillies all year round using nothing but the great Aussie sun!
We started off growing a few chilli varieties and soon the obsession took over. We now grow over 200 chilli pepper varieties and harvest chilli seeds daily. We plan to expand this over the coming seasons.
We sell our plants and pods all over Townsville and surrounds and our chilli seeds all over the world. We believe our chilli seeds and seedlings to be second to none and we take care to make sure all our chilli seeds have been tested and have very high germination rates.
At this stage our plants are not isolated so there is a rare chance you may get something unexpected – cross pollination is quite rare and according to research about one in 10,000 pods becomes a cross. We keep our prices as low as is feasible to cover business running costs and pay for our addictive chilli growing hobbie. We hope you can get as much pleasure out of the wonders of growing chillies as we do.
Aprox. 25,000 SHU
Loco is a hybrid chilli that is a wonderfully attractive plant, having dark green leaves and purple-fringed white flowers. The fruit are cone-shaped and upward growing, getting to about 3cms long. The Loco chilli fruit change from a beautiful lilac purple to orange and then red as they mature. The plant itself is super compact and it thrives and produces well even in small pots. The Loco chilli is more an ornamental variety but the taste is quite sweet with some floral flavour undertones.
Jay’s Peach Ghost Scorpion
Jay’s Peach Ghost Scorpion is a winner if you are chasing incredible heat. The cross of a Ghost Chilli and a Trinidad Scorpion by Jay Weaver presents us with this gnarly peach coloured Chilli! It is now about 7 generations old so getting very stable. A bit milder in flavour than the Ghost is nice and the slightly floral and sweet flavour is very good. At about 900,000 SHU, it’s running with the big boys and not to be taken lightly. Jay’s Peach Ghost Scorpion is on most hardcore chilli growers list for a good reason!
7 Primo Hybrid AKA ‘THE GOD STOPPER!’
SHU 1,500,000 at least
This remarkable chilli started life as a caramel 7 primo and well and truly has its home in Western Australia. A talented grower in W.A. inadvertently grew a yellow one from this stock and it was evident right away that it was extremely special. After a couple of generations, it was introduced to Mathew Price, one of Australia’s best chilli scoffers! It is well known in Australia that Mathew can tackle any chilli but this one brought the Aussie Chilli God to his knees. From here on in known as the “God Stopper!” These seeds are from the source and a fairly stable now but yet to be tested for SHU. Try them, we guarantee fun times!
Genghis Khan Brain
Approx 1,500,000 SKU
The Genghis Kahn Brain has been around for a while and is just now getting the attention that it deserves. It was apparently created by the ‘Associazione Italiana Amatori e Studiosi del Peperoncino’ in Italy, and they seem have done a damn good job! This chilli is one of the truly superhots. As soon as you put this fire bomb in your mouth you realise it’s a mistake. You could try putting your entire head into a vat of full cream milk and inhaling but trust me, it didn’t work for me. The paramedic called me an idiot and who was I to argue. If you want to eat this, have health insurance. Take my word for it.
Pimientos de Padrón
500 – 2500 SHU
The Padron is quite obviously from Spain. Nearly everyone will know the name. It may well be the most well known pepper in the Mediterranean area. These are used all the time in Tapas and while not usually all that hot, for some reason there can be one that will light your fire! They are usually picked and eaten green, unlike our picture! They are probably one of the World’s best “frying peppers”. If you have not tried these sautéed in olive oil and salt, you are really missing out. Once the Padron passes your lips you will be hooked. It is a ‘must grow’ for us and hopefully you too.
20,000 – 30,000 SHU
We all love white chillies, and the White Chupetinho is a great example. It took us a while to get this rare beauty. It originates from Brazil where they are used extensively. They are juicy and crunchy and are very prolific! They are most commonly used in salads or in soups and stews but especially pickled! The White Chupetinho is a really good chilli and commonly used as an ornamental as well. This will soon be one of your favourites!
The WAL 7, or Wicked Ass Little 7 pot is one of the greats from the stable of the famous Butch Taylor. It’s a cross of a 7 pot Jonah and the Trinidad Scorpion Butch T, so we knew it was bound to be ridiculously hot…..and we were not disappointed! While having a classic, fruity 7 pot flavour, it also has enough heat to make you question why you would even GROW a chilli that could make SATAN cry like a baby! Ironically enough, that is exactly WHY we love to grow it! Another one for the “I must be mad” list. Just do it.
This variety is a cross between the Red Bhut Jolokia or Ghost Chilli and the Pimenta De Neyde from Brazil. Our friends over in Italy have been working hard to stabilize this one and you get to try it out ALREADY. Still expect some variations but you will definitely have some fun with this one. This Black Ghost we grew started black and changed to a shimmery green then vibrant red. Pods had quite a De Neyde length and roundness to them but with at least 10 times the heat. The sweetness surprised us and it was absent of any of that floral taste we hate. Our plants got to about 4 Foot tall and loaded itself with fruit, powering away even over our mild winter months. You might like to try this beauty yourself but be warned you will probably fall in love with it.
300,000 – 500,000 SHU
Say hello to Thor’s Thunderbolt! This remarkable hybrid was developed by Chilli seedz. It has an absolutely remarkable texture and colour that will take your breath away! It’s one of the most beautiful chillies we have ever grown. To make it even better it has good fruity tasty and sharp heat that cannot be dismissed. While only F3, Thor’s Thunderbolt is well worth growing for the enjoyment it will give you! For now there will be 6 seeds in a pack so everyone can share the joy!
15,000 – 30,000 SHU
The Peruvian Naranga has got to be one of the easiest to grow. It is a heavy producer of fruit that are great stuffed with cheese. They are often eaten when they are still green but are just as good when they ripen to red. They are fruity and crunchy, will grow in almost any climate and fruit for months! If you are new to chilli growing or don’t like too much heat, this will give you a warm fuzzy feeling! You will be very impressed by the Naranga!
