The “Carolina Reaper” has been rated as the world’s hottest chilli pepper by Guinness World Records since August 7, 2013.
The famous Carolina Reaper averages at 1,569,300 on the Scoville Scale with peak levels of over 2,200,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). The original crossbreed was between a Bhut Jolokia (Ghost Pepper), a former world record holder, and a Red Habanero chilli pepper.
This is it. The big one. The BIG DADDY of the chilli pepper family. The Carolina Reaper blows away the Moruga Scorpion’s measly 2 million SHU by over 200,000 SHU’s. It’s one evil-looking chilli pepper having the texture and scorpion tail of it’s Trinidadian Relatives. There is a bit of confusion around the Reaper’s origins but the world record is held by ‘Smokin Ed’s Carolina Reaper’ which has been patented by Ed Currie, owner of PuckerButt Pepper Co. You’d be wise to fear the Reaper.

BBG MAMP
C. Chinense
Approx 1,000,000 SKUStraight from the bowels of hell the Bubblegum MAMP is another awesome creation by Enrico the grower extraordinaire. MAMP in case your wondering stands for Mojo Addicted Mutant Pepper — of course! It ripens to a translucent red with a good red creep up the calyx. That actually sounds a bit naughty. If you are into fun mutant chillies this is a great one to grow. Not fully stable this chilli plant could throw out some very interesting surprises.

Scarlett Variegated
C. Annuum
Approx 5,000-10,000 SHUThe Scarlett chilli is a cross between a Purple Tiger and a Jalapeno that was originally bred by Graeme Chaplin in Western Australia. We have grown it out many times and it appears to be mostly stable. It’s truely maginificent to behold as it grows and the pods start their transformations. The green and white variegated foliage has splashes of Scarlett throughout and the pods start dark purple and transition through a range of stripey colours of violet, yellow, orange and red. This version has upward growing pods 3-4cm x 2cms in size. The Scarlett Chilli plant grows short and compact and is super easy growing. The taste is sweet and reminiscent of the Jalapeno flavour.

White Chupetinho
C.Chinense
20,000 – 30,000 SHUWe all love white chillies, and the White Chupetinho is a great example. It took us a while to get this rare beauty. It originates from Brazil where they are used extensively. They are juicy and crunchy and are very prolific! They are most commonly used in salads or in soups and stews but especially pickled! The White Chupetinho is a really good chilli and commonly used as an ornamental as well. This will soon be one of your favourites!

Moruga Scorpion Yellow
C. Chinense
Approx 800,000 – 1,000,000 SHUIf you love the Trinidad Moruga Red then we think you will love the yellow variety even more. From what we have been told it’s a natural occurring variant of the Moruga Red being slightly sweeter with a definite citrusy tang to it(if you can taste this past the heat that is). Of the all the superhots the flavour of this one is a standout. Pod size is respectable but a tad smaller than the red variety. A special one for the serious chilli head – so what are you waiting for :-).

Scotch Brains Orange
C.Chinense
400,000 to 800,000 SHUScotch Brains, as its name suggest, is a cross of the Scotch Bonnet and the Yellow 7 Pot Brain strain. It has quickly become one of the best crosses around and is by now a very stable chilli. While it is a little hotter than your normal Scotch Bonnet, it is citrusy and tastes amazing. Nearly everyone that tries the Scotch Brains has fallen in love with it and you will too! If all that wasn’t enough, it is hugely productive as well. You can ask for more than that!

Purple Ghost Scorpion
C.Chinense
SHU approx 1,000,000
The Purple Ghost Scorpion is a newish cross originating in Guam. It is the crossing of a Purple Ghost and the Trinidad Scorpion Butch T. An unusual thing about this chilli is that while the outside ripens to a deep red, the inside quite often remains a vibrant purple! We know of no other chilli that does this. It tastes quite fruity with no bitterness. The heat is about the same as a Ghost so it’s very hot! While not quite stable yet, we love it and will grow it again!
