The flavour is good with what some people have described as it having a very slight coffee hint when dried. Coffee or not, this chilli is very good fresh and would be excellent smoked! The pods grow erect on the plant and are 5-6cm long by 1cm and ripen from green to black to a fluorescent red. There’s a real exotic and ornamental look to the plant making it a stand out in the garden. Having a flavour that is more spicey than fruity it is perfect for putting a zing any dish. Its an absolute super producer growing to over 4ft tall. Well worth growing we think.

Hot fish Pepper

It is said to be from the Caribbean and got its name from from the fact that it was used in white sauce on fish(using the fruit when white). The fish pepper fruit has an amazing ripening cycle as it makes its way to being fully red. At maturity the fruit get to be around 4-5cms long. Not only are the fruit stunning but the foliage is variegated white and green making it even more intriguing. It’s believed that the fish pepper is a hybrid of the Serrano and the cayenne pepper.

Inca Red Drop

The Inca Red Drop produces small 2cm long pods that mature from green to orange to red. It has a good level of sweetness to it and not so hot you can’t pop one straight in the mouth from the garden. (Well that’s what we do anyway). Great for small patio growing with the plant not getting over 60cms tall. The Inca Red Drop is of Andean pepper origin and relatively rare. Lebanese Marble Chilli

Approx 50,000 SHUThere are a few varieties of marble chillies around but this little beauty is a lovely edible ornamental chilli created by Oregon State University. It’s another great easy to grow pepper plant that produces small marble sized fruit that change a range of colours as they ripen – from white to purple to a vibrant red. Great for patios or small spaces and one that would make for a good bonsai as it is a very compact plant growing to around 18 inches or smaller depending on the size of your pot. Very productive.
