This plump little chilli comes from Thailand and is thick fleshed and deeply grooved – just like a pumpkin. The flattened fruits are strongly ribbed and measure about 4cm in diameter. They turn from an attractive green to a bright red as they mature, and are good for stuffing or for heating up a mild curry.
Total Eclipse – Space Chilli (HJ 8)
Approx. 5,000-8,000 SHU
Yes the monster of all Space Chillies. This one is the biggest one we have grown that has also spent some stella time in zero gravity. Has a real corkscrew twist shape. It is quite mild and sweet and certainly big enough to stuff. Not many can brag that they have space chillies – be one of the first.
“For many decades work has been going on by the Chinese who have been sending seeds into orbit on satellites exposing them to zero gravity. It has become apparent that the trip into space is creating higher yields, bigger produce, and an increase in the levels of nutrients in the resulting fruit.”
Turkish Sweet Green
Approx. 30,000 – 60,000 SHU
Sweet Green pepper in Turkish = Yeşil Tatlı Biber. Like most Turkish Peppers this one is sweet, long, crunchy and super prolific. It is said to be among the most used sweet pepper in Turkey and can be found in most rural villagers’ backyards. Given it’s sweetness it is used mostly fresh but we think it makes a very versatile chilli in the kitchen. It has the most magnificent dark green colour which when ripe turns an even more stunning shiny red. Grows quite short so good for small pots and balcony’s.

So after growing the Count Dracula chilli how could we resist growing the Vampire. It is just as striking with the fruit also going from a deep black to green and then a BLOOD red…It has the typical annuum characteristics as it’s super easy maintenance/growing whilst pumping out pod after pod all season long. The foliage gets black too if you give it full sun which makes it even more of a growing temptation. Taste wise you wont be disappointed as the Vampire fruit are medium thick walled with a sweet and juicy tang that’s only moderate in heat. Pods on average are about 6cm long and 2 cm wide with the plant growing about a meter in a pot.
