7 Pot Barrackpore (Chocolate)
C.Chinense
1,000,000 – 1,350,000 SHUThe 7 pot Barrackpore chocolate was given to us by a friend – we grew it out and just loved the shape, colour and waxy sheen. The pods are huge some growing to 8cm long and 6cm wide. We don’t have any background on this one other than it is said to be a natural variant of the Red Barrackpore. The original red variety is named after Barrackpore, a town in India. We are not sure of the strains stability but we will continue to grow this one ourselves into the future and see how it goes.

7 Pot Bubblegum Yellow
C.Chinense
500,000-650,000 SHUThis little beauty is definitely one for those who are collectors of rare and unique chillies. The Yellow variety is a naturally occurring variant of the 7 pot Bubblegum Red(a cross between a Trinidad Scorpion Moruga and a Trinidad 7 Pod Yellow) that we obtained from a friend. It is seemingly less hot than the red variety and the pods are about half the size at 3-4cms long and 2-3cms wide. It has the bleeding calyx that we all love and is quite prolific as chilli plants go. Taste wise it has the typical chinense flavour with a citrisy sweetness that bursts through.

7 Pot Congo SR Gigantic Mustard
C. Chinense
800,000 – 1,000.000Whoa this is a damn big one with the pods getting on average to just under tennis ball size! A variation on the 7 Pot Congo Gigantic Red we got the mustard coloured variety from a friend who had been growing them for a couple of seasons. It does have a distinctive 7 Pot flavour however as like a lot of other mustard coloured chillies it is smoother and sweeter on the palate. A real chilli growers collectors item as this is a very rare one indeed.

7 Pot Rennie
C. Chinense
We Think Over 1,000,000 SHUSome people say the 7 Pot Rennie is a myth but after growing it we think it has its own distinctive characteristics – mainly its shape. From our tasting it is one of the hottest 7 Pots and is also one of the best 7 Pot producers we have grown. Here is the background we found on this one anyhow. “A guy named Rodney got these from a friend named “Rennie”. Rennie is from Grenada. His wife is from Trinidad. Her parents collected these seeds in Trinidad (possibly Landrace) and gave them to Rennie. Rennie then gave to Rodney who distrubuted them to friends in the United States.” Confused well don’t worry we think you won’t be disappointed in this one. Check out Nigel’s review and decide what you think.

Adjoema Mustard
C. Chinense
Approx. 400,000 – 500,000 SHUThis ones hotter than is usual in a habanero variety but tastes sensational. We got this from the chilli grower extraordinaire Alice Lennard. One of the few mustard varieties we’ve grown that turn full mustard colour on bush before going soft. ie. A lot of mustard types go soft before fully turning Mustard colour. We don’t know a great deal about this one but it grows like a typical hab and the pods are hab size. Glad we grew this one and highly recommend for flavour.

Aji Cachucha
C. Chinense
1000 SHUThe Aji Cachucha, otherwise known as Aji Dulce is well known in the Puerto Rico area and also Cuba. This sweet tasting, spicy chilli is very aromatic and tastes like a habanero with virtually no heat at all. They can be picked at any time from green through to red and make a great pickle relish for sandwiches. It’s a little hard to find this one but it is becoming very popular!

Aji Peruvian
C.Baccatum
20,000-50,000 SHUAnother great baccatum variety from Peru. These little spear/torpedo shaped chillies are not explosively hot with an almost apple crossed with a berry sweet flavour. It’s a super prolific plant growing quiet lanky to about a meter high. Fruit ripen from light green to orange to finally red and are 3-5cm long by 1-1.5cm wide. Easy maintenance and a fine one for pepping up something like a pizza.

Berry Amarillo Round
C.Baccatum
10,000-30,000 SHUThere seems to be two types of the Berry Amarillo and we believe this one is just as stable as the original one we grew. The round version has a similar flavour profile to the original but is much juicier given it’s plumpness. It is also more yellow than orange and we think it looks very cool. Sweet and fruity it is perfect on a pizza and would be a great chilli sauce contender. Pods grow to about 3cm wide and 3cm long and the plant is one of those gangly ones that needs a good staking to hold the copious amount of fruit it produces. Just another great baccatum to fall in love with. Definitely one we will continue to grow and enjoy as a milder chilli option.

Black Naga
C. Chinense
Approx 700,000 – 800,000 SHUThis is the very cool rare Chocolate version of the King Naga. More chocolate coloured than black this monster sized beauty does turn a very dark shade of brown that gives it a black like sheen. Like other Nagas this one originates from Bangladesh and is similar in flavour profile to the more common chocolate Bhut Jolokia. Seemingly very productive it has a brutal sweet heat. The true stability of this variety is unknown because not many have grown it. You could possibly get a red or orange King Naga surprise pod but it is not likely. It has the usual chinense plant growing profile and is a great one for your chocolate chilli collection. What is it good for? – well like all superhots it makes a great blistering sauce or is just another killer to brag to your mates about…

Bolivian Bumpy
C. Chinense
150,000 – 200,000 SHUThis one is as pretty as a picture and is the result of crossing the Bolivian Rainbow (c. annuum) and the Yellow Bumpy (c. chinense). The pods turn bright yellow and display some lovely purplish/coppery tones on their way to ripening. Pod size is 3cm long and 1.5cms wide on average. It grows very compact and bushy and would go well even in a small pot. The pods have a very fruity aroma and a delicious citrusy flavour.

Cabaca Roxa
C. Chinense
Approx. 80,000 – 120,000 SHUOne of the most photogenic chillies you can have in the garden – we just love the look of the Cabaca Roxa. This is one of the Roxa varieties which are just so beautiful and cutesy due to their unique colouring and shapes. The Cabaca Pepper is quite a compact plant with dark green/purple foliage – producing fruit that start purple and go a vibrant then deep red. Pods are small and on average measure 1.5cm long and 1cm wide. Taste wise they’re hard to describe but very pleasant with a tangy sharp sweetness.
Check out the Cheiro Roxa here.
