Trinidad Beans
C. Chinense
200,000 – 300,000 SHUTrinidad Beans is a real cutie. The fruit are shaped like a peanut and pack a serious punch for their size of 2cm x 1cm. Originating from Trinidad they have a strong sharp Trinidadian aroma and a clean taste with no bitterness at all. They ripen in a very unique motley way finally turning a beautiful shiny red. Another relatively productive chilli plant growing to about a foot tall. If you like cute uniquely shaped chillies that have great cooking versatility this is one for you.

Trinidad Perfume Golden
C.Chinense
1,000 – 5,000 SHUThe Trinidad Perfume Golden is similar to the Trinidad Perfume we originally grew but it has a more intense golden colour and the pods start off deep dark green not light green. This one has a less potent perfume aroma and is a little bit sweeter and quite a bit hotter. Pods are 2cm long and 1.5cm wide on average and are a lovely pendant shape. Again we think this one would make an awesome chilli marmalade jam or give a nice aromatic zing to a salad or salsa.

Turkish Oily Paste Pepper
C. Annuum
Approx 2,000-5,000 SHUHere’s a unique one for the pepper collectors out there. In some Mediterranean regions the making of hot sauce (commercially) is scarce. Instead, chilli paste products are what people consume particularly in the Arab region. The paste is called “Shattah” which stands of course for chilli paste. In these regions chilli paste is used in daily meals much like hummus. In Turkey, locals use the term (salçalık) to describe the paste made from chillies where this particular pepper has been cultivated as a strain for such a use. Its juicy and slightly sweet like an apple and although we haven’t made a paste out of it we will assume people in the Mediterranean know what they’re talking about. The plant grows to about a meter high in pots and the fruit are approx 2-3cm wide and 6-8cms long. It’s also another chilli that is incredibly easy to grow that is super prolific.

Turkish Sweet Green
C. Annuum
Approx. 30,000 – 60,000 SHUSweet Green pepper in Turkish = Yeşil Tatlı Biber. Like most Turkish Peppers this one is sweet, long, crunchy and super prolific. It is said to be among the most used sweet pepper in Turkey and can be found in most rural villagers’ backyards. Given it’s sweetness it is used mostly fresh but we think it makes a very versatile chilli in the kitchen. It has the most magnificent dark green colour which when ripe turns an even more stunning shiny red. Grows quite short so good for small pots and balcony’s.

Venezuelan Tiger
C. Chinense
0 SHUThe Venezuelan Tiger chilli quite obviously originates from Venezuela. They also appear to be quite rare! There seems to be a roundish type and a longer type. Apparently they all taste the same. While they have no heat to speak of, they have a great sweet flavour and very juicy! These are ideal for stuffing as some of them grow very large! A very prolific and rewarding plant to grow!

WAL 7
C. Chinense
1,500,000 SHUThe WAL 7, or Wicked Ass Little 7 pot is one of the greats from the stable of the famous Butch Taylor. It’s a cross of a 7 pot Jonah and the Trinidad Scorpion Butch T, so we knew it was bound to be ridiculously hot…..and we were not disappointed! While having a classic, fruity 7 pot flavour, it also has enough heat to make you question why you would even GROW a chilli that could make SATAN cry like a baby! Ironically enough, that is exactly WHY we love to grow it! Another one for the “I must be mad” list. Just do it.

Weapon X
C. Chinense
Approx 600,000 – 800,000 SHUBig, gnarly and mega hot the Weapon X is a cross from Western Australian grower Graeme Chaplin (Chappy). All that is known is that one of the parents are thought to be a Trinidad Scorpion Butch T. Interestingly the ones we grew in pots only grew to about 60cm tall and the pods were around 6cm x 4 cm. Good on you ‘Chappy’ this one is a ripper and quite sweet for a superhot. It’s stability is unknown so have a go and see what you get.

White Bhut Jolokia aka Ghost
C. Chinense
600,000 – 800,000 SHUWhat’s hot, spooky and just too damn sexy for the garden? – The White Ghost chilli of course. Apparently now a stable variation of the Red Ghost this one is almost as hot – ouch. Pods grow about 4-5cms long and turn from light green to an awesome almost translucent white. When you cut them open you get that super strong Bhut aroma and the fumes are enough to kill a herd of elephants. The heat hits almost immediately and travels quickly to the back of the throat. The White Ghost is definitely more mild and flavorful than the other Ghosts we have tasted. What more can we say get your hands on this beauty you wont be disappointed.

Yellow Brazilian starfish
C. Baccatum
8,000 – 10,000 SHUWe love the Yellow Brazilian Starfish. While it doesn’t have much heat at all, around the same as a Jalapeno, the taste is great. The first thing you can taste is apples. It is thick walled and crunchy, also very prolific! The little heat it does have presents itself as almost “fizzy”. Its very unusual! These are great tossed into a salad. Although still rare, its one of the best mild chilies ever!

Yellow Bullet Habanero
C. Chinense
Approx. 200,000 – 300,000 SHUWhat a little ripper this one is. There are plenty of Habenros chillies out there but his one is a cute standout. Possibly this variety is a colour mutation from the Habanero White Bullet originating from the Caribbean called the Habanero Blanc. This compact plant produces a prolific a mount of little, yellow peppers about 3cms long and 1cms wide. Fruity, sweet and tangy you can’t go wrong in making this an addition to the garden and kitchen. We love these…
