Orange Naga
C. Chinense
Approx 180,000 – 250,000 SHUAnother great tasting Chinense variety that has a very good level of heat to it – PLUS PLUS!. This hottie has the most awesome flavour and we would recommend it for making superhot fruity sauces. Justin White gave us this beauty and we think it’s a winner for heat, flavour and it’s cool gnarly look.

Orange Tiger
C. Chinense
600,000 – 800,000 SHUHere is another crazy cross called the Orange Tiger that is super cool looking particularly as it starts off a shimmery purple black before it turns a unique orange mustard. It’s a variety originally grown by Chris Fowler with parentage of a Pink Tiger x Unknown. We will keep growing this one and see how stable it really is but so far we are pretty happy with the results.

Petenero
C.Chinense
200,000 – 300,000 SHUSo far one of our all time favourites…This variety is said to come from the jungles surrounding the Peten Lake area in Guatemala. Over 26 Mayan ruin sites are in this area and it is thought that this chilli pepper was cultivated and used by the the ancient Mayans. Flavour wise it is just spectacular – instantly you are hit by a warm heat that builds to a habanero level – THEN the sweet citrus burst comes next. You want to make a chilli sauce this is the way to go. You have to try it to appreciate the awesomeness of this one. Good overall producer of pods growing to about the usual 3ft tall.

Pimenta Barra Do Ribeiro Baccutum
C. Baccutum
5,000 – 15,000 SHUPimenta Barra do Ribeiro was a great surprise for us. What a wonderful plant! It’s a great one from Brazil and is still quite rare. The way it just keeps producing is outstanding and continues to do so for many months of the year. Not only is it one of the most spectacular chillies you could have in a pot, they taste excellent too! Sweet and crunchy with a little heat as well, you will find it almost impossible not to eat them straight off the bush! Don’t miss this one!

Pimenta Lisa – Fat Bullet
C. Chinense / Annuum
Approx 300,000 SHUThe Pimenta Lisa is an unstable cross between Pimenta de Neyde x White Habanero, the creator naming it after his daughter ‘LISA’. We don’t sell many varieties that haven’t proven themselves stable but this is one of the special exceptions. We fell in love with the colour, taste and shape – calling it fat bullet as that’s what we think it looks like. It has awesome foliage that is quite a number of shades of green with dark stems. The plant itself grows to less than a meter and the fruit go from vibrant deep dark peach to almost white. And wow what an fruity sweet aroma it gives off and the taste is actually peachy like. Even if yours doesn’t grow quite like ours we almost guarantee you will love the unpredictable results. Sometimes the fun of growing is in the surprises we get.

Pseudonaja
C. Chinense
800,000 – 1.200,000 SHUThe Pseudonaja was created right here in Australia by the EACSE Face book admin team It is a cross between a Red Savina and a Red Bhut Jolokia. While being grown on here in Townville it turned from the original red to a chocolate colour. It was then that the page had a naming competition and it was named by James Raumaewa as the Pseudonaja! While not tested, its heat is at least that of the Bhut Jolokia. It has a great fruity smokey flavour making it perfect for something like a steak chilli sauce! It has inherited the shoulders of the red Savina and the taper of the Bhut which makes the shape quite unique and definitely an eye catcher!

Purple Candlelight
C. Annuum
50,000 – 75,000 SHUThere are a lot of ornamental chillies out there but this one is a ripper if you are crazy about purple varieties. We found this one to be particularly vibrant in its purple stage before transitioning through a rainbow spectrum of colours, turning a final red. Unbelievably easy to maintain, the Purple Candlelight is a great variety to grow in small patio pots. Plant height is around 60cms with pod size 2.5cm long. They are edible when ripe and the flavour is quite similar to a birdseye.

Purple Habanero
C. Chinense
200,000 – 300,000 SHUThe Purple Habanero is a rare one from the USA and is a great looking chilli. One of the few that starts from a pure white and matures through a light purple, then to a deep purple/ brown. It’s has that great fruity Habanero taste and a nice rounded heat. They are also very large and very productive. Probably one of the tastiest Habs!

Purple Jalapeno
C. Annuum
3,500 – 8,000 SHUNow this…A Purple Jalapeno…how cool is that. Starting out as green this variety then transitions to a deep purple almost black before turning a fire truck red. The Purple Jalapeno is a beautiful pepper hybrid that when left to mature is quite a bit hotter and sweeter than your average Jalapeno. The plant has gorgeous purple flowers that add to its ornamental value in the garden and the fruit are big and plump like the usual Jalapeno. We think this variety is just begging to be pickled in all three stages of its colour transitions.

Purple Leaf Heart
C. Annuum
50,000 – 75,000 SHUThere are a lot of ornamental chillies out there but this one is top of the bill. We have never seen a chilli this vibrant purple with an amazing array of colour transitions as it ripens. From fluorescent purple to speckly yellow, this one eventually turns a fire engine red. Just look at the pictures for an idea of it’s beauty. The foliage and stems are a shimmery purple-black with the leaves being close to heart shape. Not the best to eat being quite seedy, but who wants to eat something so pretty – it just doesn’t seem right.
