Swiss Chocolate
C. Chinense
At a guess…350,000 – 400,000 SHURaphael Alber has created a few amazing varieties but this is by far one of our favorites. Obviously this one is a cross but with what is still a bit of a mystery. It doesn’t matter because this one is a winner for taste and looks. It’s hard to describe the flavour but there are hints of berry / cinnamon undertones. Better than any other chocolate chilli variety we’ve tasted. It gives a very pleasant all over mouth burn and subjectively seems around the habanero heat level. Pods look great and start out a dark olive green with grooves before ripening to a unique matt chocolate finish. Would be sensational powdered we think and we will be drying ours for sure. Can’t recommend this one enough.

The pods are about 5 cm long and 2 cm wide, start off green and end up a fiery red. The fruit grow to around a meter tall in a pot and much bigger if you plant in the ground.

Trinidad Beans
C. Chinense
200,000 – 300,000 SHUTrinidad Beans is a real cutie. The fruit are shaped like a peanut and pack a serious punch for their size of 2cm x 1cm. Another relatively productive chilli plant growing to about a foot tall. If you like cute uniquely shaped chillies that have great cooking versatility this is one for you.

WAL 7
C. Chinense
1,500,000 SHUThe WAL 7, or Wicked Ass Little 7 pot is one of the greats from the stable of the famous Butch Taylor. It’s a cross of a 7 pot Jonah and the Trinidad Scorpion Butch T, so we knew it was bound to be ridiculously hot…..and we were not disappointed! While having a classic, fruity 7 pot flavour, it also has enough heat to make you question why you would even GROW a chilli that could make SATAN cry like a baby! Ironically enough, that is exactly WHY we love to grow it! Another one for the “I must be mad” list. Just do it.

Weapon X
C. Chinense
Approx 600,000 – 800,000 SHUBig, gnarly and mega hot the Weapon X is a cross from Western Australian grower Graeme Chaplin (Chappy). All that is known is that one of the parents are thought to be a Trinidad Scorpion Butch T. Interestingly the ones we grew in pots only grew to about 60cm tall and the pods were around 6cm x 4 cm. Good on you ‘Chappy’ this one is a ripper and quite sweet for a superhot. It’s stability is unknown so have a go and see what you get.

White Bhut Jolokia aka Ghost
C. Chinense
600,000 – 800,000 SHUWhat’s hot, spooky and just too damn sexy for the garden? – The White Ghost chilli of course. Apparently now a stable variation of the Red Ghost this one is almost as hot – ouch. Pods grow about 4-5cms long and turn from light green to an awesome almost translucent white. When you cut them open you get that super strong Bhut aroma and the fumes are enough to kill a herd of elephants. The heat hits almost immediately and travels quickly to the back of the throat. The White Ghost is definitely more mild and flavorful than the other Ghosts we have tasted. What more can we say get your hands on this beauty you wont be disappointed.

Yellow Bullet Habanero
C. Chinense
Approx. 200,000 – 300,000 SHUWhat a little ripper this one is. There are plenty of Habenros chillies out there but his one is a cute standout. Possibly this variety is a colour mutation from the Habanero White Bullet originating from the Caribbean called the Habanero Blanc. This compact plant produces a prolific a mount of little, yellow peppers about 3cms long and 1cms wide. Fruity, sweet and tangy you can’t go wrong in making this an addition to the garden and kitchen. We love these…
