Purple Leaf Heart
C. Annuum
50,000 – 75,000 SHUThere are a lot of ornamental chillies out there but this one is top of the bill. We have never seen a chilli this vibrant purple with an amazing array of colour transitions as it ripens. From fluorescent purple to speckly yellow, this one eventually turns a fire engine red. Just look at the pictures for an idea of it’s beauty. The foliage and stems are a shimmery purple-black with the leaves being close to heart shape. Not the best to eat being quite seedy, but who wants to eat something so pretty – it just doesn’t seem right.

Purple UFO
C.Annuum
30,000-50,000 SHUThe purple UFO is a personal favourite. It looks spectacular in a pot with the fine foliage a great contrast to the deep purple of the “UFO” shaped pods! They are crunchy and sweet with a surprising kick of heat. The pods turn red when ripe but until then enjoy the glorious display of the most wonderful purple chillies ever! This one is still like my my very first girlfriend….

Pusa Jwala
C.Annuum
30,000 – 50,000 SHUThe most used chilli pepper in India apparently – this is a very versatile chilli indeed. We love them, they fruit like crazy, taste almost apple like and can be eaten green or ripe red. Fruit are quite thin and slightly curly growing on average to 7cm. They go great in curries, for making Indian chilli pickle or eaten raw in salads.

Rats Turd – Prik Kee Nu
C. Annuum
Approx. 150,000 SHU
What a little cutie. We almost didn’t grow this one as it’s name turned us off initially – not sure why…? This very tweeny chilli is very popular in Thailand where it is a special favourite of the locals. Prik Kee Nu (prik=chilli/kee=shit/nu=rat) ripens from green to orange to red and they pack some serious heat considering their size! It is a great little producer and great size to throw in an omelette or some scrambled eggs – well that’s what we do! Note: It sometimes also goes by the native name of Prik Kee Noo.

Red Mushroom Variant
C. Annuum
Approx. 5,000 – 10,000 SHUWe got this one from a friend and was labelled as red mushroom. Despite growing more as a bell shape it had such a great sweet mild flavour we decided to share it and call it a red mushroom variant. Again another hardy easy maintenance one that pumps out hundreds of cute bell shaped pods that taste sensational. Grows quite compact and bushy with pod size 3-4cm wide x 3-4cm long. Sweet and crispy these go great in salads or for making an awesome mild salsa. We also think they would make a great base for a sweet chilli sauce.

C.Annuum
3,000-10,000 SHUThis chilli pepper is both good to admire for its ornamental value and also to eat. It is similar to a red Jalepeno in heat, flavour and aroma. Said to have originated in Turkey this is another must for your chilli pepper garden. It is a great one to grow in pots and is a nice study plant with pods ripening from white to a deep red.

15,000 – 20,000SHUThe Salmon pepper is a very versatile one indeed! It gets its name from the wonderful salmon colour it turns before it matures to a lovely red. Scarlett Non-Variegated
C. Annuum
Approx 5,000-10,000 SHUThe Scarlett chilli is an unstable cross between a Purple Tiger and a Jalapeno that we got from a friend. We grew the seeds and got two varieties one with variegated foliage and this one which turned out just as special. There’s a chance you will get the other stunning variegated version but if you do you will NOT be disappointed – it’s beautiful. This version has downward growing pods 6cm long and 2cms wide that start off black and transition to a bright red. We don’t sell many varieties that haven’t proven themselves stable but this is one of the special exceptions. The plant itself grows to less than a meter and the taste is sweet and remnant of the Jalapeno flavour. Even if yours doesn’t grow quite like ours we almost guarantee you will love the unpredictable results. Sometimes the fun of growing is in the surprises we get.

Scarlett Variegated
C. Annuum
Approx 5,000-10,000 SHUThe Scarlett chilli is a cross between a Purple Tiger and a Jalapeno that was originally bred by Graeme Chaplin in Western Australia. We have grown it out many times and it appears to be mostly stable. It’s truely maginificent to behold as it grows and the pods start their transformations. The green and white variegated foliage has splashes of Scarlett throughout and the pods start dark purple and transition through a range of stripey colours of violet, yellow, orange and red. This version has upward growing pods 3-4cm x 2cms in size. The Scarlett Chilli plant grows short and compact and is super easy growing. The taste is sweet and reminiscent of the Jalapeno flavour.
