Chocolate Habanero
C. Chinense
SHU 425,000 – 550,000Some say the Chocolate Habanero are the hottest of the Habs. With a SHU of around 500,000 there is no denying they are very hot. A very prolific producer for a smallish bush so it would be great in a pot on the balcony. All habs are very versatile when it comes to cooking and this one is no exception.

Chocolate Hand Grenade
C. Chinense
200,000 – 500,000 SHUThe Chocolate Hand Grenade is shaped remarkably like a WW2 grenade and the heat may well blow your head off! Actually, being a cross of Long Chocolate Habanero and the Black Congo Habanero the heat is at Hab level. Bred in the USA, it has a big strong smoky flavour with a spicy raisin taste too. Not bad at all! It would make an interesting sauce. The Chocolate Hand Grenade is quite scarce so be quick!

Chocolate Reaper
C. Chinense
Approx 1,500,000 – ??? SKUWell here it is a new favourite of ours. A chocolate colour variation to the infamous Carolina Reaper. The Chocolate Reaper is just like the red version with the long stinger tail. It has a very strong floral aroma, similar to the red variety but with a hint of a smoky type taste up front. Not fully stable yet the Chocolate Reaper is one you can grow out and see how good a stinger tail you can get. We liked it best as a powder. Its one to show off in your chilli patch for sure!

Cilli Goronong
C. Chinense
100,000 – 200,000 SHUThe Cili Goronong, or Malaysian Goronong, is a Habanero type and quite a popular chilli among those in the know. Its abundance on the bush and awesome great shape, backed up by its not to strong, mildly fruity and smokey flavour are making it very sought after! These chillies are probably the most twisted and bizarre habanero you will ever see! They are easy to grow as well….so why wouldn’t you!

Condor’s Beak Habanero
C. Chinense
40,000-80,000 SHUThe Condor’s beak habanero comes from Peru and may well be the most decorative hab we have seen! The pods are such an awesome purple colour that you could grow it as an ornamental alone. Eventually they will ripen to red and you can enjoy the heat! They are not quite as hot as your typical hab but the taste sure is there. The Condor’s beak is one of the lesser known types of habaneros and makes a great feature in the garden or in a pot. We just can’t stop looking at it!

Coyote Zan White
C. Chinense
60,000-100,000 SHUShaped like a little white fang the Coyote Zan White originates from Brazil with the pods growing to about 3-4cm long by 1.5cm wide. Not only does it look great it is extremely prolific and grows very compact. It has an umbrella canopy shaped growth habit making it perfect for easy maintenance small container growing. The pods start as light green, then turn to creamy white, and finally bright white. This variety has a very fruity aroma and taste profile with the heat 'very warming, not at all prickly or aggressive'. Has a strong Chinense flavour without bitterness and is popular for making homemade white hot sauce we are told.

Dal Santo Habanero
C. Chinense
Approx. 300,000 – 400,000 SHUNamed after a farmer friend of ours the Dal Santo Habanero is one of the best tasting Habs we have had. It is super sweet and fruity without the usual Hab earthiness. This one has a pleasant slow smooth all over mouth burn that doesn’t rip your throat out. Like most Hab varieties the Dal Santo is super prolific, hardy and easy maintenance. Plants grow to about a meter plus in height with the fruit measuring 3cm wide and 5-6cms long. Pods ripen to a shimmery shiny bright red. Such a versatile one in the kitchen to use in all manner of ways. If you love Habs then you must try this one – you won’t be disappointed.

Many people utilize the Datil pepper in making sauces. A Datil pepper is similar in its heat index to a habanero but unlike habaneros, Datil peppers are sweet, with a fruitful tangy taste to them.

Devils Brain Red
C. Chinense
Approx. 1,000,000 – 1,200.000 SHU
Another devilishly hot one. The Devils brain is a hybrid creation of the Brain Strain from Judy over at Pepperlover.com. We grew a few plants of this one and the pods colour and shape were very consistent. Meant to be up there with the Carolina Reaper heat level wise although it has a slow burn build up – so watch yourself with this sneaky one. Why it’s called the Devil’s Brain we can’t say but we love the name all the same.

Devils Rib
C. Chinense
350,000 – 400,000 SHUA lovely habanero chilli variety from Ghana. We love how the 5cm x 2cm pods turn from a REALLY GLOSSY lime green to a vibrant stand out red. They are slightly ribbed which is also very cool. Much sweeter and fruitier than your average hab this prolific beauty would be perfect made into a fiery sauce.

Dwarf Chocolate Habanero
C. Chinense
450,000 – 550,000 SHUIf you’re after a stocky compact bush that pumps out pods the Dwarf Choc. Hab. is one you can’t go past. Similar to the Chocolate Habanero(Black Congo) this plant grows smaller but still has golf ball sized pods to enjoy. We think it’s slightly sweeter than the usual chocolate habanero whilst still having that great hab taste we know and love. A must have for your chocolate coloured chilli collection.
