It may be tiny but this classic chilli packs some heat. It has a unique smokiness to it making it popular in many Mexican dishes. Just to confuse it is also referred to as Piquen, Penguin Pepper, Chile Mosquito, Bird Pepper, Rice Pepper and Chile Pequin. It has an oval shape with the pods no bigger than 2cms long. Plants are hardy and produce most of the year round. You’ll never be short of a chilli with this one in the garden. We infuse oil with them or pickle in vinegar.
